Congrats to Lee-Davis alumni Nate Evans for his CAA Rookie of the Week honor.
RICHMOND, Va. (Oct. 2, 2017)—After posting a tremendous performance in the William & Mary football team’s conference opener against Stony Brook, freshman running back Nate Evans has been selected as the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week. He also garnered STATS National Freshman of the Week Honorable Mention distinction.
Evans led the Tribe in both rushing and receiving versus the Seawolves en route to totaling a career-high 162 all-purpose yards with a touchdown. The Mechanicsville, Va., native finished the contest with 82 rushing yards on 14 carries and five catches for 80 yards. His score came on a 3-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter that helped fuel W&M’s comeback bid.
Since taking over as W&M’s primary tailback against Bucknell, Evans is averaging 85.5 rushing yards per game with a pair of touchdowns during the last two contests. Additionally, he leads the team with 5.3 yards per carry.
